Thurs Nov 30

Today was an odd day, as we had the EcoTeam presentation in the middle of the day.

We did get some Book Club Discussions going - which everyone should be remarking on and making contributions to the D2l Area of the course, too.

Then we read to page 24 of Dorian

Wed Nov 29

Right, we did the Book Club at the start of class today - I asked everyone if they had an opinion on one of the characters from their novel "winning" by the end of the book. Some discussion followed, which I'm hoping to follow up on in the D2L.

Speaking of the D2L, I also took us through where the novels discussion areas should be, and there they were, waiting for students to fill them up and make themselves look SMRT.

Then we read to page 18 of the novel.

Oh, and we discussed the Podcast assignment for Hamlet that is due on Friday. If you don't have a copy of that assignment, I will post it under the helpful links for Hamlet on the right-hand side of the blog.

Tues Nov 28

Man, it took me all day to get things fixed, but I think I just got them fixed on the D2L/Brightspace system.

Take a peek, please. Make your posts, please.

We continue with CA/ Dorian Gray tomorrow.

A version of Dorian Grey

Monday Nov 27

Day 1 of two things ... the first club discussions for the CA and of Dorian Gray.

We pulled off both quite nicely, even if I was incorrect that people in this class would not know who David Beckham was .... meh, at least I got to show you Dan Carter. Perhaps next time I'll mention Sonny Bill Williams.

Tomorrow we discuss and read.

Also ... found this for the "Quote analysis podcast" assignment:

Link for this is here

Thurs Nov 23

Sorry about the late update.

Thursday we got the Hamlet test done - there were a few missing, so I'll have a back up ready for Monday.

I also handed out a Podcast for Hamlet assignment, too. I'll post an example of that when I find it.

We will be starting both the CA and a unit on Picture of Dorian Grey then.

Fri and Mon Nov 20

Right. I went to show off the blog this morning to the class and I forgot to update it on Friday.

My bad.

Friday we got to the end of Act IV and were assigned questions.

Monday we got through the "Gravedigger scene" in Act V, i. Here are the questions as assigned so far:

Right, after that we watched a few videos, the one that people reacted to most was this one:

But also this one

Thursday Nov 16

Today we got through to the scene where Ophelia demonstrates just how far she has gone to the "Step King Dad Uncle" and his new wife. Act IV, scene v.

Kate Winslet just is awesome in this scene.

We also got questions 34 and 37 from the Unit.

We also got a chance to watch this:

I did also mention something called MacHomer, too.

Tues Nov 14

Right.

It was a weird day, as I wasn't able to teach using my laptop, so I had to use my iPhone. Kind of stressful, but it went according to plan.

We studied Act III, scene i and then went to the start of the play within the play in Act III, ii.

I forgot to take a pick of the questions that were assigned for homework, so I will post them tomorrow.

I'll also post the due dates for Hamlet, Part 2 tomorrow, too.

Friday and Monday Nov 13

So ... yeah.

Monday and Friday were weird days. Half days, if you will. Friday was a 30-minute class as we had the Remembrance Day ceremony playing with the schedule. Monday was about the same length as we had to complete the Tell Them From Me Survey for the school.

We watched the introduction of the actors into the play and Kenneth Brannagh do his thing in the "O what a rogue" speech, too.

He announced his plan to "catch the conscience of the king", too.

Thursday Nov 9

Hmmm ... no one reads this website ... so sad.

We wrote a quiz, too. And handed in Part One of Hamlet.

Tuesday, November 7, 2017

Wed Nov 8

Students are to watch the following versions of the "To be or not to be" speech and comment inside the D2L in the "Hamlet 2B"

Students are also reminded that they have Hamlet Part one due tomorrow.

Tues Nov 7

This guy ...
It was an interesting day in class today. We took a look at the homework and started the Theme Study for Hamlet, too.

We did watch and read up to the point where the introduction of the Actors ... the players from the city that Hamlet liked.... came into the play.

We also got these questions up on the wall for everyone to make sure they are keeping up to date, too

In any case, we also then got through almost all the students with conferences about their marks that will go in for midterm.

Friday and Monday Nov 6

Friday and Monday ... we got through the scenes of Roesencrantz and Guildenstern showed up in Elsinore and started to spy for the step-King and Queen.

The next speech that we'll do next is the "What is this quintessence of dust" speech. We will take that one apart tomorrow. I'm actually really looking forward to that.

Questions up to 17 were assigned.

Ok, we should also be looking at the Theme Study tomorrow. We should have done it today, but I just wanted to hear that line about "wrapped in a nutshell and count myself king of infinite space were it not that I have bad dreams."

Awesome.

Thurs Nov 2

The Apparition's eyes are freaky

\
So we got through almost tot he end of Act 1 today of Hamlet.

We were assigned questions 10, 11 and 12 from the Unit outline for Hamlet.

I did remind everyone that they should check into their D2L/ .wearebr email to see which novel they selected. I did also say that student should be checking the D2L site almost daily from now until the end of the semester. At least checking their email.

Wed Nov 1

Hello everyone

1) Here is the video you can watch before doing questions 7, 8 and 9. Keep moving forward.

2) Also ... you should have gotten an email about your Culminating Activity novel selection.

You needed to have already started reading it. If you don't even have a copy of it, you should know that you are a just a little behind and need to start moving forward.

Come and talk to me (or email me through the D2L system) if you are having difficulties finding your novel.

3) Finally, get the assignment from Monday done, too. The Dropbox for that assignment is still open.

Thur Jan 25

I'm currently sitting in the library at BR, I'll be leaving at about 11:30am
