So ... in order to help us get ready for the exam ... here is a sample of a question from the exam:
20 Marks (10 marks Thinking; 10 marks Communication)
For the following sight passage, respond in proper paragraph form, and include the following:
- The text and author included in a topic sentence.
- The speaker and the character(s) being addressed.
- The context of the passage.
- Two main elements of significance (character development, themes, literary devices etc.), with specific references from the passage to support your claims.
- A thoughtful concluding sentence.
Here is the quote:
That can I;
At least, the whisper goes so. Our last King,
Whose image even but now appear’d to us,
Was, as you know, by Fortinbras of Norway,
Thereto prick’d on by a most emulate pride,
Dar’d to the combat; in which our valiant Hamlet,
For so this side of our known world esteem’d him,
Did slay this Fortinbras; who by a seal’d compact,
Well ratified by law and heraldry,
Did forfeit, with his life, all those his lands
Which he stood seiz’d of, to the conqueror;
Against the which, a moiety competent
